No really, it’s a great way to actually be able to communicate with your favourite artist or watchers. My watchers are even so kind to remind me to SAVE every now and then when I’m working.
Also, seeing the whole drawing process in real-time speed is always inspiring.

From my webcomic Krig RAWR
:)
reblogging an old post just to remind you guys of this comic I made a year ago. I am eager to start drawing on the next chapter, so you all better go read this as well because this is my biggest attempt on a comic this far.
I fully understand that real whitewashing is a problem and insulting. But… when people are attacked for just shading not enough, using a wrong color palette, going for a pastel look etc… it’s too much. Everytime I look at my indian and african OCs I feel disgusted by myself now and feel like crying. I feel like never draw and shade anyone beside white again.
What is probably the opposite of what those people want. But on that blog especially I saw so much bashing of beginner artists with mistakes, it’s really really demotivating to even try and practice anymore.Try to see what is white washing, what is experimenting with light sources, and what is simply beginner mistakes.
Oh and before putting someone on a giant bulletinboard for whitewashing and racism, maybe contact them if they really intended that.
Maybe they really just experimented with colors or wanted a pastel or aquarel look, not to make a character “white”.Sorry for my bad english.
This. So much.
May I also mention how very few resources and references there are for dark skin to find, compared to how much resources there are for white skin? If you live in a place where black people isn’t so common, you may not know how light reflects on dark skin.
Newbie mistakes does not mean that it’s whitewashing. I hate the whole concept behind whitewashing - people use it the wrong way. If it’s just because of lack of knowledge about light, then it wasn’t intended and therefore shouldn’t be considered racist. If it IS obviously intended, then it is whitewashing. You have no idea how angry I am about how people use this to bash artists this way.
It’s like calling someone ableist for not being good at anatomy and mess up the body proportions in a drawing.
…. best idea ever.

Oh poor Harley…
I’ll just begin with how the overall body looks like when you roughly trace it:
Now, this drawing can be changed in two different ways, since the scene is supposed to be dynamic and that she’s “apparently” doing a quick movement, it will always be a butt-n-boob-pose.
I like this one the most, because it retain a lot of the original pose, doesn’t break hear spine AND we still get our lovely tit’s n ass. We are capable of turning our torso on some level. And this feels like the most natural one, but still keeps it dynamic.
However, if we really wanna keep the butt in the same pose, we can change the upper body instead. Although that requires some more redrawin’:
Here, her torso is turned the other way, and to keep the pose looking good. I switched the gun to the other hand. However, this pose is not as dynamic as the first one. So here comes the THIRD example:
On this one, the upper body is turned more into profile view. Although this was porrly done by me since I accidentally made the ass appear bigger than supposed. But at least now she has a working spine ;w;
And this is my first redraw btw! Was a fun way to kill time and test your anatomy-knowledge/skills.
That was a lot of fun to read too! And I love the little things you threw in to each redraw. WITH THE POWER OF LOVE I FIX YOUR SPINE!
Yay! My submission is up! :D
not to mention it is simple PHYSICS and highschool science for god sakes did no one learn about this?
LEAVE THIS ARTIST ALONE.

THIS.
Sure it might be a bit bright, but I find it more because she is surrounded by FUCKING FIRE, this it is definitely NOT white-washing.
Just because the artist couldn’t handle critique in a mature manner does NOT give you any reason to call call hir racist and whitewashing. And if you actually take a second fucking look at his other painting of Korra, you can see that she has her normal skin and hair color. People are just so stupid I don’t even…
And no I don’t find “whitewashing is still whitewashing” as an argument. Go fuck yourself with something sandpapery.
What’s even going on here?
“Do you enjoy redlinings and corrections of DC/Marvel-women with broken spines, but would like to get some variety? Then go follow this blog and embrace gigantic hands, unrealisticly long torsos and lots of hot hot hot yaoi with absurd anatomy!”
(read this with a typical commercial voice pl0x)
First off, I’m not working in the dA staff myself. I’m actually just another random stranger on the internet, but I feel that I need to lighten my heart a little bit.
Many times, if not EVERY time, the dA staff release a new widget - no matter whatever it actually is, I always see people respond…
a confession/rant I submitted yesterday about how annoying I find people who wont stop complaining about dA’s admin/staff.
