Sadly, this is the truth more or less. You HAVE to know people and be a bit social if you really wanna get into any kind of entertainment/cultural industry.
People won’t trust a person who can only communicate through e-mail or a chat - they wanna meet you and talk with you face-to-face.
And being able to communicate with your client is extremely important in more or less any kind of business.
I’ve heard stories of people who got rid of their social anxiety because they didn’t wanna let that ruin their dream of becoming a concept artist or a illustrator and so on.
Social Anxiety makes your whole life very hard to begin with, if you really wanna make it into the art industry - first seek professional help for your SA. That is the first and most important step.
Don’t let your problems control your life. Let your dreams and goals do it.
