Doing some research for a series of drawings I wanna make (hint; imma gonna call them “lolita soldiers”). Checking on old asian folklore/japanese folklore.
It amazes me how many of these creatures reminds me of pokémons… Not that I’m surprised lol.
like arcanine - it’s obviously inspired by komainu.
Or all those legendary pokémons that resemble Ho-o (lol it basically have the same name) or Kirin (the asian “unicorn”).
Oh and jynx is supposed to resemble a Ganguro. the more you know…
